Message from General Director Successful Completion of Punggol Soka Centre

My heartfelt greetings to all!
September marks the publication of the final instalment of Ikeda Sensei's colossal 25 years long endeavour of The New Human Revolution serialisation in the Seikyo Shimbun on September 8, 2018. It also coincides with the anniversary of Toda Sensei's declaration for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons in 1957 on September 8 , which defines the starting point of the Soka Gakkai's peace activities.
With immense gratitude, I am happy to update everyone that the Punggol Soka Centre has just been successfully completed in this significant month and granted the official permit for occupancy. Sincere congratulations to all!
This would not have been possible without each of your sincere prayers and your wholehearted support towards the Building Fund. I would also like to express my deepest appreciation to the Project Committee, the Project Consultants, the Building Contractor, and everyone who have contributed in one way or another to this successful completion of our 9th castle of kosen-rufu, overcoming the many challenges we have encountered during the trying times of the pandemic.
Located in the vibrant new town of Punggol, this Centre shall serve to further advance Singapore's kosen-rufu and will be a facility for all members. Preparations are now underway to have the Centre ready for its opening soon and we can all look forward to welcoming you in the near future.
Let us all adorn the completion of Punggol Soka Centre in this Year of Youth and Dynamic Progress with our personal dynamic progress and victories; and our victories at the upcoming Zone General Meeting. With grateful hearts, let us also do our best to joyfully contribute to the Members Contribution Fund Campaign in October. Wishing everyone and your family, good health and happiness. Please continue to take good care of yourselves.

What can we all do from now? We can reach out to our friends and have a dialogue with them!
Ikeda Sensei quoted the French historian Jules Michelet, "Life is lighted and kindled by life, and it is extinguished by isolation. The more life mixes with lives different from itself and the more it joins itself with other existences, the stronger, happier, and more fruitful is its own existence."
He explains that,"Lives affect each other in many subtle ways. Encouraging the people around us may seem unremarkable and ordinary, but without doubt it helps prevent isolation and division; it contributes to the joyful and vibrant development of a treasure land, where diverse lives can meet and connect."
我们现在能做什么呢?我们可以和身边的朋友一起对话!
十九世纪法国歴史学家米什菜(Jules Michelet)曾说: "生命遇到生命，就会生辉并带有磁场，但若命孤立，就会自行消逝。 生 命越是与不同的生命融合，越能增进与他人的连系，增添力量、幸福与丰饶而活得充实。" 生命与生命之间有美妙无比的相互作用。我们日日在关怀鼓励这 位朋友、那位朋友，这种行动看上去并不显眼，但确实在防 止孤立与分裂，欢欣热闹地在扩展多样化的生命与生命的相逢和结合的"宝处"。

Ikeda sensei also encourages us with a gosho to the young Tokimitsu, saying "You must not only believe in them [the teachings of the Lotus Sutra] yourself" (WND-1, 964). He is telling Tokimitsu that it is not enough to simply practice himself, but that, while deepening his faith and growing, he must also reach out to others and help them practice and become happy too.

👋👋Happiness does not lie in outward appearances nor in vanity.
💓💖It is a matter of what you feel inside; it is a deep resonance in our lives" 

💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♂️"In addition, the things that constitute relative happiness, such as possessions, relationships or circumstances, all disappear upon death.
🙏😇Absolute happiness, however, which is the life condition of a Buddha, exists on the level of life that is eternal and transcends life and death.

🤔How do you achieve absolute happiness?

👋👋"In a condition of absolute happiness there is total freedom from fear and anxiety. With consistent practice we develop the capacity to enjoy life in whatever circumstances and stay unperturbed by the ups and downs of our lives.
💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♂️Absolute happiness does not depend on other persons or some circumstances.
🙏🙏It is created by us, by our regular practice of Nichiren Buddhism.
🙏📿Our faith enables us to to receive joy
that is derived from the Mystic Law."

But by regarding the members' sufferings as our own, we can vastly expand our life state of life. It is by striving tirelessly for kosen-rufu through the most challenging circumstances that we will gather great fortune and enjoy wonderful benefits. Ø  这个月我们学习的御书是《开目抄》。

 

1.御书的背景概要和大意：

 

1.《开目抄》是日莲大圣人51岁时，写于佐渡流放期间的1272年2月，

 

2.并委托四条金吾给予所有的弟子。

 

3.这是一篇阐明日莲大圣人才是具备"主师亲三德"之末法本佛的最重要御书之一。

 

4.大圣人在前一年的9月12日蒙受遭斩首不遂的龙口法难之后，被流放到佐渡。

 

5.许多弟子们也遭受弹压和迫害。

 

6.当权者或将他们抓去坐牢，或驱逐，或没收他们的领地。

 

7.众多门人因此心生怀疑而退转。

 

8、9.当时社会上有很多人，以及信心动摇的弟子们纷纷置疑并抨击，道："大圣人若是法华经行者，何以诸天未加守护？"

 

10.大圣人在本篇御书中着力厘清门人和一般民众的这些疑问和抨击。

 

11.大圣人根据《法华经》里所说的"三类强敌"，很确信地指出，蒙受难正是真实的法华经行者的证明。

 

12.大圣人根据文证详细说明自己为什么遭受这么严峻的迫害之后，说无论有无诸天加护，都将不惜身命弘扬妙法，以便能救济一切众生。

 

13.接着，大圣人以决不败的狮子吼，无论如何，决不打破立下要成为日本之柱、眼目和大船的大誓愿。

 

14.御书最后部分，大圣人向弟子们断言，无论遭遇什么困难，只要贯彻坚定的信心，必能达至佛界，获得绝对的幸福。

 

15.这也就是我们这个月要学习的部分。

 

16.现在让我们一起来念这段非常有名的御文的白话文吧：

 

开目抄

 

（白话文）

我及我的弟子，即使遭遇各种苦难，如果没有怀疑的心，自然可以到达佛的境界。不要因为诸天没有守护就产生怀疑，不要因为现世生活没有获得安稳就感叹，虽然早晚教导我的弟子们，但是他们都因为产生怀疑而放弃《法华经》的信仰吧。愚人的习性，对于约定好的事情，往往会在重要时刻忘失。

2.解说的重点

 

1.  这段御文是日莲大圣人阐示信心极意的根本中之根本的指导，也是我们永远的指针。

 

2.  当遇到人生的苦难时，要如何反应至关重要。

 

3.  我们以信心为根本来应对的精神，将决定人生未来的方向，包括能否克服障碍，并以此为宿命转换、磨练生命的契机。

 

4.  这就是第一个学习重点："困难是转换宿命、磨练生命的契机"。

 

5.  日莲大圣人在这段御文中教导我们如何能做到这点。

 

6.  大圣人说："我及我的弟子，即使遭遇各种苦难，如果没有怀疑的心，自然可以到达佛的境界。"

 

7.  大圣人教导我们，面对任何苦难，也不能起"疑心"。

 

8.  纵然没有诸天的加护，或现世不得安稳，也不能有"悲叹之心"。

 

9.   "自然可以到达佛的境界"这句御文中的"自然可以"并不是指我们有一天自然而然会成佛。

 

10.大圣人其实是保证我们"一定"会成佛。

 

11.因此，能以不退转的心贯彻信仰的人，才是真正的胜利者。

 

12.我们都知道人生绝不是一帆风顺的。

 

13.其实是跟宿命严峻的战斗。

 

14.或是失去亲爱的人、或是自己病倒，

 

15.又或者是家庭不和、孩子失足、失业、破产、生活贫困……

 

16.痛不欲生的苦难如惊涛骇浪一般，向我们袭来。

 

17.在这样的时候，我们会不由自主地问："为何是我？"

 

18.或者我们面对人生的风浪，会觉得很无奈，开始产生怀疑，或者有放弃的念头。

 

19.可是我们必须记住，正因如此，所以才要修行日莲佛法。

 

20.所以要使自己坚强。

 

21.因为绝没有凭信心跨不过去的宿命。

 

22.不向苦难低头，越是辛苦越能锻炼出顽强坚毅的心志，培养出能跨越任何考验的力量。

 

23.并能懂得他人的痛苦和悲哀，对烦恼的人感同身受，能从心里鼓励，而自己的境界也会藉此而得以提高。

 

24.不受挫于苦难，敢于勇往直前，这种生活方式本身就是佛法伟大力量的证明。

 

25.就是说，彻底为广宣流布奋战时，宿命就会变成自身的可贵使命，苦恼就变为心的财宝。

 

26.因此，池田先生在指导中说：

   

    苦难能使人坚强。

    大难能锻炼信心。

    只要勇于挑战难，彻底锻炼信心，就能在己心涌现"佛界"。

    大难来袭时，能胸怀"师子王之心"持续奋战的人，必能"成佛"。

    日莲大圣人佛法的真髓是，"信"即"成佛"。

27.先生在另一指导中也说：

 

     信心途中所遇到的苦难，一切都有其意义。即使面临的是难以解决的困境也好，只要时间一过，再以长远的眼光来看，一定能够恍然大悟，"原来如此"、"原来是为了这件事"，所以不须为眼前发生的事而一喜一忧。就像没有永远刮不停的暴风雨一样，世上没有永无止境的苦难。

      能把一切转重轻受、变毒为药，就是此佛法的伟大力量。

28.因此，面对人生的困境时，遵照大圣人的教导保持坚定的信心，不但自己变得坚强，还能扩大自己的生命，甚至领会到经历困难的意义。

 

29.事实上，众多学会员都把这一节御文铭刻在心，挑战及克服了一切苦难与考验。

 

30.基于这层意义，在人生这样的关键时刻，我们应该铭记佛的这些金言。

 

31.第二个学习重点是："总是回到自己的承诺上"。

 

32.虽然人生充满苦难，但妨碍我们取得胜利和幸福的最大障碍却是在我们生命里。

 

33.池田先生在鼓励中说：

 

人并非败给苦难，而是败给自己。自己灰心丧气，放弃信念，走向失败。

34.诚如池田先生教导我们的，把我们打败的绝不是苦难或艰难的情况。

 

35.而是我们生命中的不好的一念和软弱，比如"不信"、"怀疑"、"懦弱"，等等，致使我们认命，放弃再向前一步，去迎接跳战。

 

36.而这些不好的一念都是从生命中的无明衍生出来的。

 

37."无明"，或者说根本的无知会导致生命成为茫然状态，一直受黯淡冲动的作用所支配。就是这种作用招来不幸。

 

38.举例来说，妙法是太阳，无明就像掩盖太阳的乌云一样。

 

39.乌云消散的话，阳光便会马上照射。

 

40.所以，只要能消除这种根本迷惑，妙法的力量便能立刻显现在生命上，化为种种功德，以及化作价值创造的作用，显现出来。

 

41.所以，即使说众生原本具有佛界生命，但如果没有进行拨开无明乌云的奋战，佛界是无法实际显现的。

 

42.佛界不是外表光唱题目就可以显现的。

 

43.那么，如何能克服我们生命中这个"无明"，而让佛界显现、辉耀呢？

 

44.要克服无明，只有靠"信"的力量。

 

45.大圣人教示："对治元品无明之利剑正是此一信字。"(御书785页)。

 

46.对付无明要靠信这把利剑。

 

47.所以，唱题的人本身必须以坚决的信心为根本，进行消灭无明的奋战才可。

 

48.坚决不动摇的信心是指以广宣流布的誓愿为根本的信心，是日莲大圣人以及创价三代会长的誓愿。

 

49.也是我们跟师匠要引导民众走向幸福的师弟誓愿。

 

50.在佛法上，立下誓愿有着深邃的意义。

 

51.佛教所谓的"誓愿"是指，能斩断宿业的铁链，解放一直被束缚的自己，以迎向新未来的原动力。

 

52.换句话说，藉由佛的教导来磨练自己，并透过确立起的信心，引导自己迈向未来，"誓愿的力量"能促使自己为了实现此未来目标而持续努力。

 

53.誓愿可说是"变革的原理"。

 

54.池田先生也教导，让我们涌现生命中的佛界的，就是广宣流布大愿。

 

"广宣流布大愿"和"佛界生命"是一体不二的。正因如此，本着这誓愿奋斗终生的人，至为尊贵，至为坚强，至为伟大。

贯彻这誓愿时，佛的勇气、佛的智慧、佛的慈悲会源源不断地涌现。彻底去实现这誓愿时，任何烦恼都会变毒为药，宿命会变为使命。

55.因此，在快要放弃或难以承受周围的逆境的压力的时候，总是回到这个承诺上，这个在重要时分立下的誓愿上很重要。

 

56.我们必须唱诵为了广宣流布，无论如何都要克服眼前的挑战的誓愿为根本的"奋战的题目"。

 

57.这时候自己或许被眼前的困难蒙蔽了双眼。为了让自己记起曾经许下的这个"承诺"，重要的是向信心前辈请求指导。

 

58.在这段御文的最后部分，大圣人针对这种愚蠢行为训诫说："愚人的习性，对于约定好的事情，往往会在重要时刻忘失。"

 

59.应当奋发强盛"信心"的时候，反而不信而起疑心退转的话，那未免太愚蠢了。

 

60.大圣人的话中隐约传来，"难道如今不正是'成佛之时'吗！""只要突破此大难，就能成就永远的幸福！"这个大圣人的心声。

 

61.不管遇到什么事绝不怀疑；不管发生什么事也不会悲叹。

 

62.绝对不能忘记，"重要时分"勇于奋战的信心，如此才能散发佛界的光辉。

 

63.这点也可视为这篇御书的重要结论。

 

64.在结束之前，让我们再来重温今天的两个学习重点：

1）    困难是转换宿命、磨练生命的契机

2）    总是回到自己的承诺上

 

   65.请大家牢记今天所学习到的，最后，让我们再来拜读一遍这段御文：

我及我的弟子，即使遭遇各种苦难，如果没有怀疑的心，自然可以到达佛的境界。不要因为诸天没有守护就产生怀疑，不要因为现世生活没有获得安稳就感叹，虽然早晚教导我的弟子们，但是他们都因为产生怀疑而放弃《法华经》的信仰吧。愚人的习性，对于约定好的事情，往往会在重要时刻忘失。
