Worthy persons deserve to be called so because they are not carried away by the eight winds: prosperity, decline, disgrace, honour, praise, censure, suffering, and pleasure. They are neither elated by prosperity nor grieved by decline. The heavenly gods will surely protect one who is unbending before the eight winds. 🙏

贤 人 者 , 不 为 所 谓 八 风 , 即 八 种 之 风 所 侵 , 始 谓 贤 人 也 。利 , 衰 , 毁 , 誉 , 称 , 讥 , 苦 , 乐 是 也 。大 旨 是 谓 不 为 利 喜 , 不 为 衰 叹 等 之 事 也 。不 为 此 八 风 所 侵 之 人 , 必 得 天 之 守 护 。

贤人是不受所谓的八风 , 也就是八种的风所侵犯 , 才叫做贤人 。那就是利 , 衰 , 毁 , 誉 , 称 , 讥 , 苦 , 乐 。大致是说 , 不因为有利可图而欢喜 , 不因为失意而哀叹等等的事 。不受这八凤侵犯的人 , 诸天善神一定会给予守护 。 🙏
